To connect the Trak2 AES output to your Digidesign 002, you will need to follow these three easy steps:
1) In the Digital I/O menu set Dig Out to S/PDIF as described in the Trak2 user's guide on page 28.
2) Set AES output jumpers to the S/PDIF configuration as described on page 17-18 of the user's guide.
3) Get an XLR to RCA cable wired in the manner described on page 18 (a standard cable should work).
Now it's possible to connect the Trak2's digital output to the S/PDIF input on the 002.

Though it's not possible to connect a Trak2 directly to ProTools HD cards, there exist several options to connect your Trak2 to a Pro Tools HD system. First, it's possible to connect your Trak2 to a Digidesign 192 Digital interface via the Legacy port (using your Digi8+ AMBus card and cable), the AES input (using the AES chassis mount output), or the AES D-sub I/O (using the AES8+ AMBus card). Another possibility would be to interface your Trak2 with a Digidesign 96 I/O using the Legacy port.

With the unit powered down, press and hold both Quick Keys and the Meter key and hold them down for the entire boot up sequence. When the Trak2 is done booting up you can release the buttons. At this point, because you were holding down the Meter key, the right channel meter is now in the phase metering mode. Simply press and hold the Meter button until the line in the middle of the right channel LED goes away.

Go to the Setup menu and then to the D/A page. Here you will find a function called Confidence Monitoring. By default, it is set to "off." Highlight the word "off" and press the data wheel to activate Confidence Monitoring. You can switch between listening to AMBus A and AMBus B by turning the data wheel left or right.

The Trak2 has a send and return feature which allows you to use external devices. Any incoming analog signal is automatically routed to the sends, which would connect to the compressors inputs. The output of the compressor would then be inserted into the Line inputs on the rear of the Trak2. On the Mic Pre page, you need to turn on the Line In for each channel.

By pressing and holding any one of the cursor buttons and at the same time turning the data wheel, you can adjust the display contrast to your preference.

The DAC card for the Trak2 is not like the AMBus card, which is simply inserted in the unit. You will need to take the top off the unit and remove some parts before you are able to install the DAC card. First, the lid must be removed. Inside the Trak2 there is the main digital board in front which has a total of nine screws holding it in place. Remove these screws and carefully pull the digital board toward the front of the unit. Once this is done, the blank panel for the DAC option slot must be removed. There are two screws on the rear of the unit holding this in place. Angle the DAC card from inside the unit so that the face of the card fits into the open slot and then seat the rear of the card down. There are four screws which are needed to hold the card down. Once the card is in, carefully push the digital board back into place and replace the nine screws. Reboot the Trak2 and the DAC card should be automatically detected.

By default, the Trak2 is set to 24-bit. To utilize the UV22HR process you need to turn the UV22 function on within the routing page for each channel. In the routing page, on the third row down, are the UV22 controls. By default, these are set to "off." Highlight each channel that you want to enable UV22 for and press the data wheel. This will set the channel to "on." If you want the audio to be lower than 24-bit, set the Digital I/O page resolution to 20-bit or 16-bit.
