Ensemble's StandAlone Mode for Pro Tools LE Systems

Adding an Apogee Ensemble as a front end to your Pro Tools LE systems by connecting to a Digidesign 002 or Digidesign 003 via ADAT is the easiest way to upgrade the quality of your studio without disturbing your setup.

Ensemble features 8 channels of legendary Apogee AD/DA conversion, 4 world-class mic preamps and Apogee’s advanced Intelliclock clocking technology. Have the best of both worlds: the software you love and the sound quality the pros prefer.

A typical scenario of StandAlone Mode is connecting Ensemble to a Digidesign 002 or Digidesign 003 for recording and mixing with Pro Tools LE. This connection is made via two ADAT optical cables and provides Pro Tools users with a sound quality upgrade in AD/DA conversion and superior clocking as well as the use of Ensemble’s four world-class Apogee mic preamps.

In addition to adding 8 Analog I/O and 4 mic preamps to your setup, you can also improve the conversion quality of your 002/003 by

using Ensemble as the master clock.

Setting up Ensemble for StandAlone Mode

1. Connect Ensemble to your Mac via FireWire

2. Restore Maestro to its default state by choosing Reset Routing and Reset Mixer from the Tools menu in Maestro.

3. Select the Output tab in Maestro and set up the routing exactly as it appears in the screen shot provided below. This setup will route your analog inputs directly to your ADAT optical outputs and the ADAT optical inputs directly to the analog outputs allowing you to use Ensemble as a StandAlone mic preamp and converter.

4. After the routing is completed on the Output tab, you may want to make changes to some of the settings that are not available from the front panel when in StandAlone Mode, such as phantom power and clock source.
