ONE FAQs

Q: How do I connect ONE to powered studio monitors?
A: You can connect ONE to powered studio monitors with an 1/8” TRS to dual 1/4” TS Y cable. The 1/8” end will connect to ONE’s headphone output and each 1/4” end will connect to each monitor, left and right.

Q: Which input should I choose in GarageBand?
A: In GarageBand's Input Source menu, you will see Mono 1 (ONE), Mono 2 (ONE), and Stereo 1/2 (ONE). You can choose any of these selections and ONE's input will be routed to the GarageBand track.

Q: Is it supported to use ONE with a USB hub?
A: Apogee supports the connection of ONE to the USB hub in Apple Cinema Displays. Otherwise, it is recommended to connect ONE directly to a USB port on your Mac.

Q: Is it supported to use ONE on the same Mac as other Apogee interfaces?
A: Yes, with a few limitations. Currently, the version of Maestro that is compatible with ONE is not compatible with Duet or Ensemble. To use these interfaces on the same Mac as ONE, put the Maestro version that is compatible with Duet or Ensemble in any other folder except the Applications folder. Then install ONE software. From that point, simply launch the version of Maestro that corresponds to the device in use. Also, make sure to disable the "Launch Maestro automatically..." preference in all versions of Maestro to avoid conflicts. This is found under Maestro menu > Preferences.

Q: I don't see any input or output on the meters.
A: Check to see if "Identify Unit" is engaged. This is found toward the top of the Maestro windows just under the ONE graphic.

Q: How do I designate ONE as my audio device in GarageBand?
A: Go to the GarageBand menu and choose Preferences. Choose Audio/MIDI at the top of the Preferences window. Select ONE for both Audio Output and Audio Input.

Q: I hear noise on ONE's output when nothing is connected
A: If you have the input gain turned up with nothing connected to that input on ONE's breakout cable, then you may experience some noise. If you are just listening to ONE's output and do not have any microphones or instruments connected, make sure you turn the input gain all the way down.

Q: Can I use ONE and GiO together in the same session?
A: Currently, it's possible to aggregate ONE and GiO (using the OS X utility Audio MIDI Setup), but the system may be less tolerant to sleep/wake cycles of the computer, session sample rate changes, and hot-plugging. It's best to minimize these activities when aggregating. Keep in mind that with Logic 9 and GarageBand it's possible to assign the input to one device and the output to another without the need to aggregate the devices. In Logic Pro, for example, choose Logic Pro > Preferences > Audio, and set Output Device to ONE and Input Device to GiO.
