APOGEE ANNOUNCES ULTRA LOW LATENCY AT 1.6 MILLISECONDS WITH APOGEE’S SYMPHONY SYSTEM AND APPLE’S MAC PRO

AES convention, SAN FRANCISCO, California- October 6th, 2006 —Today at AES, Apogee Electronics Corporation announced that its Symphony PCI card combined with Apple’s Mac Pro desktop computer achieves some of the lowest latency available in a native audio production system at 1.6 milliseconds and some of the highest numbers in channel count and plug-in performance.

The Symphony PCI Express card connects Apogee’s X-Series and Rosetta Series converters to Apple’s Mac Pro. This unity takes advantage of the incredible speed of the new Intel-based Macs and Apogee’s super fast Symphony driver and offers the highest performance and lowest latency of any native audio system available. The latency clocks in at 1.6 milliseconds at 96k, when measured from analog input to analog output. Other performance specs are equally as impressive, such as the number of available simultaneous audio channels at 192 and the extremely high capacity for plug-in processing.
