Philanthropic Activities

For many years, Apogee Electronics has supported a number of nonprofit organizations around the world, as well as several in its immediate community. Today, Apogee funds a group of organizations in an ongoing effort to join the fight against child homelessness and abuse, world poverty and HIV/AIDS, among other issues. As Apogee grows, so does its commitment to the environment and the community within which it exists.
A portion of Apogee Electronics’ profits has been distributed among the following charities:

Apogee Volunteer Program
Apogee Electronics’ new Volunteer Program will fund ten employees each calendar year to participate in a week-long program anywhere in the world. Apogee will pay for the entire cost of the program, including round-trip airfare to each destination. The Volunteer Program provides a unique opportunity to employees by offering the chance to cultivate relationships and have meaningful experiences in the greater worldwide community, and all at no expense to the employee except that the week is considered a part of his/her yearly vacation time. It is expected to take effect at the start of 2007. |

The M:Gray Music Academy
The diminishing number of music and after-school programs offered by public and private schools over the past ten years has contributed to a steady and tragic increase in violence, drug abuse and teen pregnancy. There are over 360,000 single parents in Los Angeles County alone, in addition to many of families in which both parents work full-time, leaving hundreds of thousands of children under the age of fifteen to return home from school alone with no guidance. Law enforcement studies show that the peak after-school hours are when children are most likely to get into trouble, or become victims of crimes themselves. Affordable after-school and weekend/holiday break music programs offered at the M. Gray Music Academy surround our youth with music as an instrument of peace and a valuable and enriching way of filling the after school hours. |

CARE
CARE tackles underlying causes of poverty so that people can become self-sufficient. Recognizing that women and children suffer disproportionately from poverty, CARE places special emphasis on working with women to create permanent social change. Women are at the heart of CARE's community-based efforts to improve basic education, prevent the spread of HIV, increase access to clean water and sanitation, expand economic opportunity and protect natural resources. CARE also delivers emergency aid to survivors of war and natural disasters, and helps people rebuild their lives. |
