Interview with Vincent DiPasquale
Miami, FL - May 9, 2007
Aesthetically, Vincent DiPasquale’s Miami-based studio reflects his success as one of the Industry’s most in-demand remixers and producers, with bold, striking colors, high-end gear and gold records lined wall-to-wall for artists such as Nelly Furtado, Mariah Carey, Missy Elliot and Brandy. Yet, with his new installation of the Symphony System, the most notable aspect of his studio is the fact that he is able to work in a Native environment that is conducive to his preferences, his rig, his style...all of which maximize the outcome of his projects. DiPasquale says, “Most simply put, the Symphony System rocks and is rock solid! I now have the sonic quality Apogee is known for, mixed with seamless integration on my Mac Pro/Logic rig. Life in the studio is good!”
In the following interview, DiPasquale reveals the details of his workstation setup, what exactly it is about Symphony that he loves so much, and why.
Q. What specifically about Symphony was appealing to you and made you want to make the crossover to fully commit to a Native DAW?
A. “As a long-time Logic user, the synergy that has developed over the past few years between Apple machines and the Logic software is amazing. Apogee have always been “go to” converters for me and when the Symphony System was announced as an expandable I/O addition to the Apple/Logic family, it become an absolute no-brainer.”
Q. With near zero latency, in what ways can you now work in your Native environment that you could not before?
A. “Actually, the newest way I can work that I couldn’t before is using Apogee’s Vbus. This for me is one of the best new workflow additions inside Logic in a long time! I have been waiting for the ability to route audio internally and record to new tracks and thanks to the Vbus setup, it’s a snap! And of course, the performance and quality for tracking vocals natively in a large session with many plug-ins is flawless.”
Q. What is your exact Symphony System configuration and workstation setup?
